Expect A Miracle

by limitlesslaura

A very curious thing happened this week. You know what it’s like when you feel pulled toward a book, a song, a place or something that your spirit needs?  Since my mother passed away in December, I would not put it past her to be hanging around me and pointing the way to the lesson of the week!

Let me back up. When I think of the personal development foundation and legacy I was born into, I get goosebumps!! I feel a true responsibility to carry on the new thought my parents held so dear. In 1958, they were married by Dr Ernest Holmes, the founder of The Church of Religious Science or as it is now referred to Science of Mind.  I was very blessed to be part of a progressive home of thinkers and dreamers, who studied everything from Transcendental Meditation and astrology to The Course in Miracles. Certain concepts stuck with me more than others, and one in particular, the thought that you can change your life by changing your thoughts. More specifically, I was absolutely touched at an early age by something that felt like MAGIC to me. Once I knew I could change my life by changing my thoughts, I started to feel a knowing deep inside me, that we all had more power inside us than we could ever imagine, and it was all about thoughts, feelings, and seeing miracles manifest our lives.

I remember bumping into a strange little book of my mom’s entitled: I Desire and Image-The Expect A Miracle Book by Janet Levy and starting to read it. The book has a connection to a miracle I witnessed just prior to reading it.  I was about 16 at the time, and had just returned from a visit to Santa Fe New Mexico to my sister’s. We had gone to a famous little church (pictured above) where the legend was that the a miracle was performed there centuries before, and people came from all around to visit this little church. In the back of the church is a little room with a dirt hole in the ground, about a foot deep. As the miracle legend goes, a miracle occured at this hole in the ground. People would put some of dirt on their sick and injured family members, and they would be healed. It’s curious to everyone that the hole has NEVER grown in size, though THOUSANDS, perhaps, millions have gone through this church and taken some of the sacred miraculous earth. Why do I mention this peculiar hole in the ground? I mention it in the context of miracles.

Do you believe in miracles? Are they real?

The little book I began to read back then was unlike anything I’d read before because it opened my teenage mind to the concept of the subconscious mind, and that thoughts actually are things. I don’t know if I completely understood it, but I liked it enough to keep the book. Fast forward to 2000 and a time in my life when frankly all I needed was a miracle ! I was unhappy, broke, and very unhealthy. I was cleaning the garage one day, and ran across..you guessed it this book. I picked it up at a PERFECT time in my life, and studied it fervently!

The concepts therein said very simply that my life was completely in my control, and that all I had to do was

  • ASK for what I wanted from God, then
  • write very specific words down on a card.
  • Read it 3 times a day.
  • Go on with my life.

The book contained little “expect a Miracle” cards inside that you could tear out, and use. I took one out, and wrote:

“I desire a total and complete healing in my life. All my highest dreams and desires are coming true. Joy and serenity, financial abundance, and fulfillment of purpose are mine now. These miracles are complete and manifested in my life!”

I folded it up and placed t in a pouch with a little box of the dirt that I had kept from the hole in the ground from the church in New Mexico. You must remember that My life was in a shambles, and I was willing to try anything. I believed that what this book said would work, but honestly, I don’t know if it matters. It only matters that you change your thoughts. I read the card faithfully 3 times a day, and within 6 months my life began to turn around, and I was earning my own income, creating amazing relationships, and feeling healthy and well. I added new cards, with more specific manifestations, and kept changing my thoughts. By 2001 my life was miraculously a NEW LIFE. God had changed my life, and it was as if I was in a movie!!

Recently this book popped up again, after a challenging time with family issues and health again. It is as if I am led to it every time. I don’t go looking for it on the shelf! It’s sooooo weird!! I took it out and immediately knew why I was supposed to be reading it, and it was to share this information with YOU. I went to Amazon.com and looked for this book. It’s apparently out of print, and the only copies I did find were quite expensive because of its rarity.  The concepts in it are the simple precepts of manifestation, but written in such a way that empowers anyone to start doing it in about 2 minutes, without any intimidation. It makes you feel like miracles are possible. Janet Levy outlines her own life story and how these little cards helped her conquer chronic sleeping pill addiction. There are many stories in the book that are uncanny, but if you are a believer like many of us are, you just get it!!

I would encourage you to make some “EXPECT A MIRACLE” cards on some cardstock, or sheets of business cards you can buy at Staples for $7.00

The instructions are to write: I desire and image: ___________________________________ and read it 3 times a day. Carry it with you too.

That’s it. Let me know how you do!!

Believe in miracles!

I’m a sensitive spiritual, heart centered woman who just doesn’t believe there’s an impossible anything. My joy comes from inspiring growth, and empowering others to bust through their limits. I have fought and overcome chronic illness in my life, and many obstacles while pursuing and living my dreams, with persistence and determination. Mental health awareness and ending the stigma associated with it is a cause that’s very important to me. This blog is dedicated to the beautiful life of Robin Williams and all he gave to the world.
