Use Your Intuition to Do What You Love

by limitlesslaura

One of my very favorite spiritual teachers, Dr Wayne Dyer says:  “Doing what you love is the cornerstone of abundance”.  If you look into many spiritual masters and teachings over time, this is always a common thread.

Following our star, our bliss, true north, and listening to the intuition inside, or your inner guide that speaks to us to find the thing we are meant to do with our lives. The immediate thought that comes to mind is, how many people out there are actually doing it?

If you are fortunate enough, you get to live out your dreams and do what you love for a living and get paid for it. That’s the ultimate in self realization. Some people go their whole lives not knowing what their true life’s love is, and simply search because they feel an emptiness or yearning. Others know exactly what their passion is, but may be stuck in a job, when what they really are meant to be doing for a living is singing or being an artist, or having their own business. Which do you think is worse, never knowing your passion, or never realizing it? It’s an interesting question, isn’t it?

The times in my life that I have listened carefully and answered that yearning voice inside to move toward what I love have brought great success and joy for me. The consequences to ignoring that powerful gift of intuition almost always deeply affects me in some way. Most recently in the last year, I went against this gnawing inner voice and worked where I was being warned not to, and the outcome for me was very painful.  Later many other colleagues confirmed this same experience. I learned a great lesson. The lesson may not show up immediately, but there’s always a lesson, or some way that God shows me that it’s NOT where I am supposed to be, and it’s not what I am supposed to be doing with my life. I can bet you that if you look at your own life, you’ll find this as well. This deep intuition or knowing is something we can cultivate if we learn to tap into it. What is it? It’s a direct line to your subconscious mind, which is connected to God and The Universe. You can also call it The Holy Ghost, Angels or your spiritual guides depending on your religious affiliations. It’s all the same thing. It can be your greatest life management tool, and can lead you to a life of satisfying, peaceful abundance.

Take a look at where you are in your life right now. Are you doing what you love? Do you feel a passion and zeal every day for what you get to get up every morning and go do? If you answered yes! I love it! You are probably living in abundance, and attracting the people, circumstances and things you love as well.  If you didn’t answer yes immediately, or it’s a “sort of”, perhaps you might examine this: Sometimes we need to take a look at why we are where we are, so we can get to the place we truly want to be! Sure, if you are working a “j.o.b” that you don’t like that’s putting food on the table, there are still many hours left in the day and night to do what you love to get to a life, so you can really do what you love! If you know what you want to be doing, and what you are TRULY passionate about, you should be spending whatever amount of time you can carve out each day to move you closer to being able to do it full time. I know this is not news, but we get caught up in traps that take us down paths that make us wake up years later with no progress toward what we want, or doing what we love.

One of the biggest traps I see, especially online is being a people followers, instead of leaders.  We are all individuals, with very specific gifts that make us MAGNIFICENT just the way we are. People love you for BEING YOU and the more you try to be like everyone else, or follow the latest thing because it’s the “hot ticket”, the less you are standing in your uniqueness, unless that thing happens to be what you LOVE doing! If that is the case, you will be brilliant at it, and it will show. People are naturally attracted to others who love what they are doing.  If you are struggling, are unsure, or indecisive, that’s what The Universe hears: Confusion, lack of clarity, fear and doubt.

How do you get clear so you can do what you love for a living? Ask yourself questions, like:

  • What’s most important to me?
  • What have I always enjoyed doing whether I got paid or not?
  • How can I relate to others most? What do others tell me I am good at?
  • What makes me angry and passion filled!!??
  • What stirs my emotions? What’s my vision for me and my family?
  • What experience do I really want to have out of my life?
  • When I go to my grave, what do I wish people would remember most about what I did with my life and how I impacted theirs?
  • What feeling do I enjoy more than any other?
  • Who do I admire most and Why?
  • What hobbies do you love to do that you could get paid for?
  • What do you absolutely know you don’t want..(sometimes this helps)

It’s in these explorations that you’ll find what you’re meant for. It might not be right there, and for some it may come quickly. You might already know and just need to get really clear.

For me, I experienced a bit of a wakeup call over the last year, and I don’t mind at all sharing it with you, because maybe someone will gain value and take action. Our family experienced a great tragedy one year ago that rocked all of us to the core. It made us all take a look at what was most important to us, what we are doing with our lives, and how we spend every moment. Love and sharing our love became our number one priority. You never know when a split second instant can change your life, and a person you love can be taken from you. In this instance she was not taken, but lingers in a care center, with a critical condition basically awaiting the inevitable.  The accident that happened changed her personality so it was like she was taken, but she’s still physically here.

We hold our loved ones much closer, and we see the blue in the sky more brilliantly. We taste food more gratefully, and we enjoying simple pleasures like just watching the kids run through the sprinklers on a Saturday afternoon. The people you love, both your family and your friends, are all life is really about. Sharing experiences, loving, laughing, traveling, eating together, singing, worshipping, mourning, sleeping, making love, having babies, fighting, yelling, laughing, and all the glorious joys that are sweet, sweet life!!

So why would you want to spend a minute doing what you don’t enjoy? It has always made perfect sense to me as an entrepreneur and is frankly why I became one so long ago. I own my life, I make it up as I go along, and I get to show others how they can too. If they have to keep working a job until they get there full time, that’s ok. It’s in the pursuit that you can grow into the leader people will want to follow.

More than anything I want you to listen to your intuition, and that little small voice more if you don’t already. Listen to what it’s telling you and let it gently guide you through life. If you are unhappy or unsure about something in your life or what you are doing with it, get quiet and ask, and the answers will come.

I wish you A LIFE THAT YOU LOVE..surrounded by THOSE that YOU LOVE

I’m a sensitive spiritual, heart centered woman who just doesn’t believe there’s an impossible anything. My joy comes from inspiring growth, and empowering others to bust through their limits. I have fought and overcome chronic illness in my life, and many obstacles while pursuing and living my dreams, with persistence and determination. Mental health awareness and ending the stigma associated with it is a cause that’s very important to me. This blog is dedicated to the beautiful life of Robin Williams and all he gave to the world.
