Have you ever had a friend give you a give you a very needed “kick in the pants when you really needed it, even though it might have stung… it made a BIG difference?.  My friend once  shared with me a simple course correction that I could make in my approach to life and my network marketing business that would have a significant effect on my results, and happiness. It was so impactfull that it touched me emotionally. Well..it slapped me between the ears and upside the head actually! That’s the mark of TRUTH  It lazers in on the SOUL. I remembered that this same friend had forwarded this very special article by Dave Saunders to me, and I thought , “I have read this information many times and I must not have been ready to “get it AGAIN”…just when I needed to apply it most! So I decided to post this special article adding what I like to call “FORMULA FOR BREAKTHROUGH”…..entitled:

I reached a point where I had done well, but had hit a plateau.  I wanted more.  I wanted to build my business more successfully, and I wanted to continue growing.  I asked a trusted mentor what to do.  His response: “Be Do Have.”

I had heard this lesson before.  In fact, I had heard it from more than one person.  And it wasn’t the response that I was looking for.  I wanted to know what to do!  I wanted him to tell me what to do so I could go work hard and create explosive growth in my business.  I was willing to work hard—really hard.  In fact, I was willing to work harder and do more than anyone else.  Isn’t that how it’s supposed to work?

I decided to take a breath and be a bit more receptive.  “Okay,” I said, “tell me how Be Do Have is going to build my business.  Although the truth is, what I really want to know is just what to DO.” [click to continue…]

Enthusiasm Flips the Switch!

Ralph Waldo Emerson once said “Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm,” Do you think there’s truth to that? Look back over some of the highlights in your career, schooling, relationship, spiritual life, parenting or anything you’ve done that was  truly great, and bet you dollars to donuts that you were enthused when you accomplished it, and people could feel your enthusiasm!

A leader that I once worked with, used to have a saying that always stuck in my mind: “Knowledge is Power, but Enthusiasm flips the switch”.  What comes to mind when you read that? How does it make you feel? As long as you’re not dead, it should make you very excited! Knowledge IS power to be sure, and being a well informed, educated person will take you far in life. The thing is, it can be pretty boring listening to someone go on about a subject or even engage in a conversation when there’s no passion or enthusiasm. Have you ever sat through a class or lecture that you could not wait to get out of because it was so boring? I have a theory why that is. I think there’s only one reason such talks are boring. Either the teacher is not enthusiastic about what he or she is teaching or speaking about, or the listener has absolutely no interest and enthusiasm for the speaker. I LOVE listening to a passionate speaker! They are engaging, funny, and relate to us in the audience. I think it’s all about connection too.

What is enthusiasm? Is it mere excitement? If you ask most people, they would tell you it’s something more, but they can’t really put their finger on what that more is.. To me enthusiasm is a deep movement of the spirit that shows all over you in such a way that it moves others. It’s an emotional response that combines many feelings, of joy, excitement, anticipation, and other positive attraction.  It bubbles up inside you, and there’s a physical response in your stomach, and all over your body! When you are enthused, you are magnetic, persuasive (without trying) and the one people want to follow. The root of the word Enthusisam is “Enthos” which means Of-God or éntheos  having a god within.

 So How Can Enthusiasm Help You Do Better in Your Business? It’s Natural…

You might have heard the phrase “Ignorance on Fire beats Knowledge on Ice every time”. What this means is that if two sales people could go in to present to the same prospect, and one could be completely prepared with a notebook, power point, and all the facts and figures. He would present all the information perfectly and answer all the prospect’s questions.
The second sales person would show up a little late, with a big smile on his face and a story about his beautiful daughter that he just walked to the bus stop. She splashed mud on her dress, so they had to go home and put on a clean dress. “It was the best morning we’ve  ever had together, jumping in the puddles, holding hands, splashing each other and crunching the fall leaves under our feet”.
As the prospect is positively captivated by this story, the sales person asks, “How about your daughter, You have one about the same age don’t you? What’s her name?” and they spend the next 10 minutes talking about their daughters. The presentation is still made to the prospect, but in a much more passionate way, with far less detail.  The prospect hears “the music” more than the words. His passion comes through so LOUDLY, that the prospect just wants some of whatever he has.
Which salesperson do you think will get the sale?
You and I both know it’s sales person number two every time, because of his heartfelt enthusiasm and connection with his prospect. Now, I am most certainly NOT saying that you don’t have to be prepared for presentations, and up to your tasks. If you are a professional, you  should behave like one. What I AM saying is that you will be remembered for your “spark”, your personality, and your genuine enthusiasm about what you do, and your own life.
I’ve been around truly enthusiastic people  all my life,  that derive their enthusiasm spiritually and they are contagious! You just want to keep hanging around them because they make you feel so good. This is another quality. Enthusiasm is not so much about you as it is about others. Give of your energy and your time, and allow your cause to take on a life of its own.
The bottom line is that enthusiasm does FLIP THE SWITCH to create magic in almost all things you do! Just remember you hold the switch, and if you feel yourself in your head, get back to your heart, and touch that spirit of ENTHUSIASM, embrace it, and feel it! Give it away to others and it will GROW like a garden.

Are YOU The Leader People Are Looking For? Have you considered lately how hungry people are to be uplifted, inspired, and LED? The industry is loaded with people out there looking for the “hitter”, or the “big fish” they can land in their business, that can bring over a down line, or at least a SUPERSTAR that will go to work, build their compensation plan, and sponsor a bunch of people!! Sound familiar? This is a very common desire and one that we hear every day. Fall out, or attrition, gets a little disconcerting sometimes, and every day it feels like you have to keep sponsoring people faster than they can quit. Duplication, and a fast growing, on fire group that TAKES ON A LIFE OF ITS OWN…that’s pure magic. When it happens to you, it’s the most exciting phenomenon, that you want to pinch yourself, because you can’t stop it if you try!!

Guess what. There’s a secret we’re going to let you in on, that the  Alpha Leaders know, a million dollar secret. It’s called the “I AM”. When you KNOW who you are, and your BELIEF in YOU is so high that YOU DON’T move.. (it’s called posture) people will naturally be drawn to you and whatever you have! They will want to do business with you because they will sense you are “IT”, and someone they can trust, someone who is constantly giving, loving and caring about others.  You MIGHT share your opportunity with them IF they are extremely lucky…but it’s down on the list, because you don’t need to even mention it. Of course you WILL, because you have the Goose that laid the golden egg! Remember, your belief level SHOWS all over your body language, and if you get it right…People just naturally want whatever you have. It’s the “music behind the words”. It would not even matter what you said!! People have to have your product, and opportunity, just to play with you, and be a part of what you are doing.!

Remember that thing called the Law Of Attraction? What does Law Of Attraction say: Like attracts Like OR That which is like unto itself is drawn. So, Would it not make sense that if we are directing all of our attention outward “looking” for that Leader, Superstar etc, it would stand to reason, that we inwardly believe our business, “lacks”, we lack, and do not shine that dynamic inspiring “fired up” energy outwardly!! Make sense? What I mean is this: A wise sponsor told me many years ago: “Stop searching for that leader, and start BEING the one they’re looking for, and your business will be set on fire in no time!” Indeed it was, and I went to the Top 10 and won a Carribean Cruise!

Many people are wandering out in the dark looking for that beacon of light, and they are looking to be uplifted by people who KNOW EXACTLY WHERE THEY ARE GOING. Do you know where you’re going? Are you emanating the LIGHT and FIRE of a TOP 10 Leader or even a #1 Leader? If not I invite you to sit down and look at why not. You can inspire your people, and lead them to the top, even if you only have a handful, because they will feel your passion, and they will want what YOU HAVE. They WILL WANT TO GO WHERE YOU ARE GOING!!  So watch this video, and Take my challenge this week to BECOME the LEADER PEOPLE ARE LOOKING FOR!!

Common Mistakes We See Newbies Make

After getting through the time of being a newbie myself way back when, I can sure remember how I felt.  Other network marketers were out there succeeding, and it seemed like I was missing the “magic dust” or something. I felt as if I was doing everything right. I decided to look back at myself, and a few new people I know, and some common blunders that can be easily corrected to move more quickly along the path to success.

1) STOP getting ready to get ready. Stop organizing your work space, making sure your scripts are ok, going to meetings alone, going to webinars that you’ve attended for the 20th time and know by heart, and my downfall to this day, (and I am a seasoned PRO !!) spending too much time online and calling it “work”. You get the idea, it’s called wasting valuable time.

Fix: Get into Activity! Talk to People, Lots and lots of people, and then talk to more people. Here’s an exercise: Get out a piece of paper TOMORROW morning and document every 30 minutes exactly what you’re doing, during the time that you’ve agreed to work on your business. Devote your time to Revenue Producing activities only. What are they? A revenue producing activity is anything that involves exposing a potential customer or new distributor to your product or opportunity: Prospecting calls, one-on-ones, Facebook chats with a REAL prospect, skype chats, Webinars with a Guest, Meeting with a Guest, Follow Ups, Contacting leads you’ve generated online through your funnels.

2) Ask for Help! I am amazed at the number of marketers I talk to all the time who perceive themselves as totally alone in the world with no resources, no help, and no idea what to do next.

Fix: Most people have pretty good common sense right? Or is it just me? If you are not getting help, for goodness sakes A-S-K !! If your sponsor flew the coop, and theirs did too, get on the horn to the corporate office and find out who can help you. The company will always put you in touch with your up line leader who is HUNGRY and standing by for the next ready and willing marketer to put their hand in the air to be taught. I did this when I was serious about going full time, and my mentor spent every day on the phone coaching me, flew out to do meetings, and I  owe him the world for that.

3) Decide if you want it, and how bad you want it- Are you serious about this? I know it sounds a bit harsh, but some can ride the fence for years, and until we truly commit, the Universe won’t respond, people won’t respond, and not much will happen. Is this a part time business, a full time business? or maybe just a hobby? There’s no shame in that. Some of the businesses like Stamp it Up!, Creative Memories, Pampered Chef and the like are a fun hobby for many young moms, who would otherwise lose it without something to call their own.  when I was a young mother, I had a small calligraphy business, addressing envelopes for weddings. It was a hobby, because it was fun, gave me something to do that was my quiet time in the evening and I got a little “mad money”.  I think some people judge when everyone’s situation is different. not everyone has to be a serious network marketer, only the ones who decide to be because they want to manage a REAL business like a business. We’ve talked about this many times, but because the cost of entry is so low, the cost of exit is low too. Make sure you know what level you’re playing at-and be OK with it! When you decide to take on a business, treat it like one, and it will pay you as such.

Fix: Get out another piece of paper and put a line down the middle. Column A “I play full out” Column B “I play half way” Then list all the areas that your business needs your energy in: Prospecting, Follow Up, Writing content, Record Keeping, Supporting team, etc. List what’s pertinent to your business. I don’t know what that is. For my business, it’s sharing water, connecting with my customers, talking to new people. Then rate yourself in each area from 1 to 10 honestly in either column. If you play full out, rate that one. If you play half way.rate that one. Then when you finish you’ll have a clear indication where your weaknesses are, and how serious you are RIGHT NOW. Concentrate on the areas that need improvement.

4) Stop looking outside yourself for the answer. I remember years ago one day being at the height of frustration with a what I saw at the time as failure. I had been working hard, calling my leads, working my list, and exposing my prospects to the opportunity exactly like I was taught to do. I was coming up dry. Nothing. I called my mentor and said “I have had it! I am doing everything you’ve trained me to do!! Why am I not having a breakthrough?” Do you know what he had the gall to say to me? “Guess, you haven’t done enough yet, Go do it some more”. After I recovered from peeling myself off the floor, he said, “Laura, you’re one of the best distributors I’ve worked with, and YOU ARE doing everything right, it just takes time, and we all pay our dues learning how to talk to people” It was a week later that I made my first $1295 sale. And after that my business took off. I was eventually #1 income earner in that company two separate months.

Fix: Praise yourself daily for the little wins. Do personal development 30 minutes a day, every day. Go to this inspirational blog. Expand your mind, and continue to develop you. Work the numbers, and understand they are just numbers, and don’t sweat it. After a while a ratio will emerge, and you’ll talk to 20 people and get a sale, then 15, then 10 and so on!

5) Don’t blame your up line for your failures. - Ouch! There I said it. Many times we want to look everywhere else but at our own lack of activity, or flat out mistakes as to why our business is not growing the way we want it to. Blaming our sponsor, or even the upper leadership is very common, because there’s a miscommunication that something is owed from the beginning like the infamous “I’ll put people under you”. If you start your business expecting “spillover” you are DOOMED before you even get going! If it happens that’s a bonus..but PLEASE don’t wait for it to happen and use it as a convenient excuse to slow down, get angry or quit.

Fix: Take Ownership of your Enterprise! From the very beginning, it’s all about that decision again, and it’s up to nobody else but you! You can be the CEO of your million dollar company. That’s a very good thing.

Our destiny in this business is our own and we have the keys to our own mothership. Your decisions are important and your daily approach can affect those decisions and their outcomes. Be professional and sure footed once you commit to this, and don’t expect anyone to do it for you. It’s just one of those things- you have patiently persevere to be indoctrinated into the club of income earners.
