September 2010

This week’s  Guest Blogger Shanna Maretsky,  is my beautiful daughter! She is a mother of a 5 year old son Hunter, and is a full time college student in the field of Respiratory Therapy, graduating in February 2011. Shanna has endured many obstacles as well as personal triumphs as a single mom, mastering The Law of Attraction. At a very young age she showed a keen knack for creative writing. I am excited to have her as a guest blogger from time to time because her life seems to be in “FLOW” at the moment! She is attracting magic and miracles, and our readers will find interest in her travels!  Shanna has tremendous vision, creativity, courage and determination to succeed in her life.

The month of September is SERVICE MONTH,  and just under the wire we wanted to devote this article to the concept of Service.

“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.”

Most of us are very fortunate. Though we can easily get caught up in the daily struggles of our own lives and families, we truly have so much to be grateful for. It’s when we can think beyond ourselves and show compassion for others that we really can share the gifts of our abundance.

The simple act of volunteering and reaching out in the community is a remarkable way to see how much value each of us has to contribute when we put our minds to it. If everyone made a conscious effort to regularly make a difference in the lives of others the world would be a much more harmonious place.

Today I had the opportunity to get my hands dirty and work with the amazing employees of Home Depot who volunteered their time, materials and labor to landscape the YWCA of Salt Lake City. In a few short hours, Team Depot was able to create beautiful gardens and grassy areas for the families who call the shelters at the YWCA home. The response from the facility and its residents was so immensely gratifying.

It’s in those moments that we forget about ourselves, and apply our energy with such a positive strength that nothing but goodness comes from it. Plants and flowers embedded in the earth will serve as continual reminders to pay our gratitude forward and spread beauty throughout our lives.

True fortune isn’t a dollar amount in a bank account; it’s the feelings of abundance that grow from gratitude, joy and compassion.

We have the choice to shine our light of compassion today and everyday. No matter how you choose to do it, you will only be adding good to the world.

Halleluyah! Summer is over and it was a good one.  We had a blast. But alas, a few more minds will be focused on working and school.

I got to thinking today about how grateful I am for the incredible lifestyle we enjoy as a result of network marketing. We are fortunate to enjoy time freedom, with the ability to make our own hours. When it comes to family this can be a good thing and a bad thing. Because our time is our own, it’s easy to get caught up in working constantly, especially when you are as passionate about what you do as we are! Lesson learned this summer:

TAKE TIME TO BE WITH THOSE YOU LOVE …..THEY ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN ALL THE MONEY IN THE WORLD

After savoring the end of Summer, it’s time to dive into Fall! This is my favorite time of year, both in our business and in my life! I love the change in the weather, the colors of the leaves, (in Salt Lake City they are spectacular!) and the change in the air. as far as business, people turn their FOCUS to money, business, school, the upcoming holidays, and the year ending.

September, October, and November are historically the three BIGGEST MONTHS in MLM.This is also Convention season, when all the MLM Companies hold their yearly Conferences, and associates from around the country fly into one city to meet together in the thousands to ROCK THE HOUSE. We meet, me mingle, we learn. You have an amazing opportunity to make priceless connections with people to advance your business. Nowhere else can you learn in the way you can as a LIVE event.   [click to continue…]

1.Find Your Passion-  2. FOCUS-  3.Implement !

It has been an interesting summer! I think I wrote in late May that my Social Media education was in full swing, and that I was seeking out the experts in each area. Like many of you I am sure, I was impatient, and wanted as much information as I could get my hands on, as quickly as I could my hands on it!! I dumped a large sum of money into ebooks, dvds, courses and programs. Each program gave a similar promise: “…Get you making money online quickly and easily, by following this step-by-step…..”

The interesting thing is that I have been blogging for 3 years, in a very niche subject mind you, and over that time I became a whiz at WordPress and even some pretty cool search engine optimization. I come from a long and successful career in network marketing so why did I need all this education? Because it’s a new frontier, and a  fast paced social media world out there.  Let’s tell the truth….any way you slice it, you cannot avoid it. If you want to be good, There is A TON to learn. Being a  humble student is a noble thing. But the tricky part is what you DO with the education once you avail yourself of it.

I found myself getting overwhelmed, frustrated and downright depressed at times by the sheer volume of it all! I will be honest, I don’t know how I made it through many days, if it were not for the members of my tribe, my wonderful spouse and friends and family who believe in me.  It does not make me proud to admit this to all of you, but I thought by spilling my guts this way, it would encourage more careful consideration of paths in the future. Hey, I am still learning, and I am sure most of you will tell me you are too!! School is always in session for the professional online marketer. But I think the worst part is past.
