I grew up in the  70’s and when the “New Age” was awakening, Gurus , transendental meditation and psychic readings were coming into vogue. I had a real live hippie for a big sister, and a mom that did numerology astrological charts. My mother studied Carl Jung, , The Course In Miracles.and Science of Mind. In fact, my parents were married by the founder of Science of Mind, Dr Ernest Holmes in 1958.  Science of Mind or The Church of Religious Science is basically the study of One Mind, and that thoughts are alive with power to manifest, create etc. It is the idea that thoughts are things, just like everything else, and that all of our thoughts are part of one collective Mind, The Universal Power, or Higher Power. I tell you this explanation only because these early introductions and exposures in my life, opened the door for me to be absolutely convinced that:

You CAN Manifest ANYTHING You Desire!!

I grew up knowing from my core being that nothing is impossible. I was taught that if you want something, you go after it. My father was an extraordinary man who built his life from the ground up, and became a huge success. He started as a Hollywood photographer who shot the old black and white photos of the movie stars in the 40’s and 50’s that you saw in the old glamour days. He worked very hard and developed the first color process with Kodak. He then started the first color process photo laboratory in Hollywood California. Back then it was considered like “digital” is now, very innovative That company went on to be a major force in Hollywood in its day. On his business card he had a saying on the back printed:

“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent” Calvin Coolidge.

So between my mom and dad I had the foundation, then I stumbled into personal development on my own as a teenager.I think we have so many wonderful materials to learn from about manifestation, starting with the scriptures, to personal development classics and modern day books and tapes. In this book Joe talks about a 5 step system to ATTRACT anything you desire.

  1. Know what you Don’t Want

We don’t realize that we ATTRACT the NEGATIVE ! So figure out what you do not want!!

2. Know what you DO Want So if you figure out what you Don’t want, then you know what you do! “I don’t want to keep working my job” –“ I DO want a thriving business so that I can quit my job and work my business full time!

3. Get CLEAR- What is blocking you? What limiting beliefs are standing between you and what you want?  An example would be: “I don’t have enough time to work my business to make it successful”, “I am not good at networking” etc. **

4. Feel Your Intention Already Achieved.

5. Let Go ( and do your part of course)

**Releasing a Block Famous motivational success and prosperity author Bob Proctor suggests a powerful exercise to help get rid of blocks. Get out two pieces of paper. One the first piece, list the things that are blocking you and the feelings associated with each. Really Take time to experience the feeling of how this block is standing in your way of getting what you want. These are the things that are clogging the vibration for you to receive your abundance!! Then on the second sheet, Write out exactly how you want these things to be, in vivid detail. Get into the joyful feelings of being, doing or having these things, and how your life would be different.  Notice the difference in how you felt when you wrote the first sheet. The more you can fall in love with the new image of your life, and the new feelings, the faster you’ll manifest them. Now take the first sheet and burn it.Take the second sheet, fold it carefully and carry it with you for a week. You’re done and probably cleared the negative block!

Intention , Belief & Thoughts

Another author who is absolutely tuned in on the subject of manifestation and intention is Wayne Dyer. You can turn on your TV almost any weekend to public television and see one of his great specials on his latest book Excuses Begone!: How to Change Lifelong, Self-Defeating Thinking Habits (an awesome book!) although he has been working with PBS for over 25 years. He is a fierce advocate of public television and if it were not for him, Bert, Ernie and Barney, PBS might not have made it all these years.  Wayne is all about Believing in the divine essence of YOU, and that every human has their own innate gift to bestow upon the world. He believes in the power of thought and the dynamic nature thoughts can have in everything we do. He writes in very simple terms that I have always loved and related to.

In his book Ask & It Is Given Wayne Dyer writes about thoughts:

Choosing A different thought will always produce a different emotional response. So you could say “ I will deliberately choose my thoughts so that I can feel better.” That would be a good decision for you to make. An even better decision, and really, an easier one to make is:”I want to feel good, so I will try to feel good by choosing a thought that DOES feel good”.

Some other great ones by Wayne Dyer are: Manifest Your Destiny: The Nine Spiritual Principles for Getting Everything You Want and  THE POWER OF INTENTION BY DR. W. W. DYER. I like the Power of Intention because it talks about not just the belief, determination, persistence etc  once has to have to manifest the desire. Intention in this case is a collection of thought in the universe that is like the One Mind I talked about in the beginning of my article. He calls it a “field”, that is everywhere. You access this field as you have strong intention. It is weakened naturally by negativity, which interrupts its perfect flow. Possessiveness or ego mess with this flow greatly, but conversely and abundant, generous, servant mentality, opens the flood gates for a lovely bounty of rich blessings of almost anything you could want.

All of the books suggest visualization as a keen tool , and making dream board as a way to keep your desire in front of your mind’s eye daily. You can pick up a number of books on the subject of creating your destiny, law of attraction etc. and it will tell you somewhere in the book to sit down with a pile of magazines and start cutting out those things that make your heart sing!!. and here is our actual living room Kind Of spooky isn’t it? it really speaks to..You get what you A>S>K for! So you might as well be really specific!! Go ahead and MANIFEST AWAY!! God, The Universe, whatever you believe wants to bless us with overflowing abundance. We are the ones who get in the way and screw it up with self sabotage, doubt etc.

You really can have anything you want.

Be Specific-Ask for what you WANT!! Don’t Worry About The HOW When you are truly Inspired the How takes Care of itself., The Universe rearranges itself to meet your goals Cancel The Negatives -Doubt BLOCKS abundance Let Go! Turn it over to The Universe  100% FAITH!!

Contrary to all the articles, sites, blogs, squeeze pages etc. that you see online about how easy online marketing is, how much money it makes, how when you get involved after you’ve been beating you’re head against the wall in mlm you’ll  be amazed how much easier online is…the truth is: Online marketing does not work. “But Larry and Laura, how in the world can you say that?” Mike Dillard, led the way with his legendary and industry rocking Magnetic Sponsoring. Ann Seig was equally controversial and wrote her breakthrough book and materials, The Renegade Network Marketer and the guy who lead the way with 5000 blog posts Ty Tribble. Other Online Rockstars, like  Mark Hoverson who has earned so much  that people compete on Google using his name in their ads and pay thousands to learn from him.  Jonathon Budd the 7 Figure Networker, and New MLM Launch Formula and lets not forget the amazing…. Katie Freiling who has become one of the top bloggers ever…. All these people and others would laugh in my face at that statement!” Don’t worry I will redeem myself for all of you that want to go away and never come back. Keep reading, as I promise this will all make sense and provide a strong point to learn.

Let me explain. We have been involved in MLM for over 20 years, and have been successfully helping people become independent five and six figure earning home based business owners in worldwide organizations. We have met some of the finest leaders in the industry in that time and are proud to call them friends. It’s been interesting to watch the mass shift that has taken place in the last few years to the social media revolution, and attraction marketing, funded proposals etc. The one thing that stands out above all else… is the common thread that we hear on BOTH sides of the fence is “It doesn’t work”

OK..what doesn’t work? The tried and true methods of Network Marketing don’t work? They really DON’T WORK?? They WORK…IF YOU WORK THEM. Always have…always will!! I challenge any person to take a superior product and opportunity that has these 3 attributes and NOT have some relatively good success with persistence, determination, and repetition.

Your Product Must Be:  DIFFERENT (Preferably FIRST TO MARKET!)

SUSTAINABLE (people have to have it long term)

GIVES YOU AN ADVANTAGE in the marketplace

So what about online marketing? Why do we say it does not work? It’s more like, people don’t work. People are looking for the easiest route to the million, with the least amount of work. A shortcut. The problem is, whether it be traditional mlm marketing or online mlm marketing, THERE SIMPLY ARE NO SHORTCUTS TO SUCCESS. It’s not really fair, but it’s just kind of the way it is. Booo. You can’t pass yourself off as an expert until you spend some time learning about your niche! That’s why we kind of crack up at all these “mentors” all over the place!! You can’t mentor people until you know what the heck you’re talking about with some credibility, and some experience!  You can’t pour water in cup with some instant powder and become a millionaire mentor! You have to pay some dues on the way. You’ve all heard the saying….It’s called Net-WORK marketing!

Ok, Ok….Of Course Online marketing works!! What do you think we have rocks in our head?! It is working to the tune of Billions!!  There are many fantastic tools and packages available to help you get where you want to go. Our advice is continue to work. Be persistent, consistent and know what you want. Take some time to work out a plan for what you want your online business to look like.  What message is it sending?

I think what we want to say is that BOTH WORK extremely well. The old mlm industry is pretty much not what it was. It has had to morph into the New MLM of the 21st Century, with The Social Media platforms, Web 2.0 etc. People carry around their Ipads and Iphones now, the way we used to rely on our precious rolodex, and business card files. Hotel meetings have been replaced by webinars for the most part, although many companies are still doing both as a winning strategy because there is no replacement for face to face personal contact DaveandDawnCook did an excellent video on this, go check it out!

Online marketing is like everything else. It is not get rich quick. It is not a shortcut for your mlm business. It is a new way to make your mlm or small business more profitable!! There is a significant difference! It does NOT mean you are going to work any less!! In fact you might work MORE. My hope is that you dig in and roll your sleeves up and work harder than you ever have in your life! The reason I say this is because if you do, you’ll be rewarded bigger than your wildest dreams.

The trap people fall into is thinking they are going to take their mlm business online, by putting up a pretty blog, trying a few strategies, etc. When the leads don’t start rolling in, they coming crying to us saying “Well, THAT didn’t WORK!!” The question you should be asking yourself is Did I WORK IT for a minimum of a YEAR, applying one strategy to the mastery level? You want to know a secret? The only way online marketing will NOT WORK is if you QUIT!! If you keep at it, and keep working consistently, you can’t help but succeed in your niche!

I found a really cool post over at Affliate Blog Online -“Why You Really Need to Start Guest Blogging Now”. Wanda and Paula are pointing out something that we don’t think of too often! ” At least I didn’t anyway….

“These days there is a  huge influx of bloggers who just love content, so it is a lot easier to get an article published. This is even more so if you have an internet marketing type blog, after all other internet marketers know the value of content and will even come to you for an article.” Wow! You can say that again! Aren’t we all looking for good content?

Wanda and Paula point out that it’s a little known technique that can bring you tons of new traffic, and boost your seo.

“From that one blog post we received over 1200 unique visitors, had around 150 sign-ups for our email list, some nice backlinks, around 50 new RSS subscribers and 3 sales of affiliate products, one of those for a membership site with ongoing commissions”.

They do warn that you have to keep working at it like every thing .

“Yes of course the traffic is only temporary from these types of posts but as you can see from our experience it brought in other long term benefits, like the 150 people signing up to our newsletter for instance. ”

Making Connections That Count

Building Relationships On The Telephone With Confidence and Class Part 1

It’s no secret that we are all in the business of building relationships. Not that the concept is anything new! Network marketing success has always been and will always be about initiating, building and sustaining strong long-term relationships in this industry.

There are many areas I can and will discuss within this subject, but I thought I would begin with my personal favorite: the telephone! It’s “comfortable” and fun talking via email, chat, facebook, twitter , youtube etc. but what about taking that relationship into the “real world”?

Are You Comfortable On The Telephone?

Rest assured, it is a very common issue to be a little uncomfortable. When I first started back in the 80’s I was scared to death! The old saying that “the telephone weighed a thousand pounds” was not too far off. Burning desire is a wonderful motivator, and as I continued to get better at it, and persisted, I became a pro on the phone. The only way I got good at it was to TALK TO LOTS, AND LOTS OF PEOPLE!!Now it has been over 20 years, 10 of that full time and sometimes I think it’s growing out of my ear!

Rule 1: Get yourself a good headset!! It makes the phone so much more enjoyable.

Rule 2: Get an internet chat headset for Skype, IM chats etc

Taking online relationships on to the telephone

Here are some tips that will make the transition smooth as silk, creating more results. After all, that’s what we are all looking for right? Results!

It’s all about one major thing CONNECTION.  Network Marketers sometimes get caught up in thinking it’s about getting their awesome “agenda” across, to the other person. I am sure they have an awesome agenda!!  We all do. There is a right time and a wrong time. Trust me, they will smell it a mile away, and the connection will not be made, or at best it will be a very weak one.

Think about when you have met someone recently on the telephone that has been from an online connection. What made it successful? I had one just the other day. This gentleman made a lasting impression in my mind. Why? Because he was not trying to sell me anything, or push his personal agenda on me. Instead he has offering his assistance with no strings attached, for as long as I needed him. He established a natural rapport with me, and took an interest in me. I felt no sense of time like he needed to go anywhere. He was open about himself, and willing to answer my questions. He also told me two or three unusual tid-bits about HIM, Inc. that would stick in my mind when we got off the phone so I would remember him!  It’s very interesting because the services of his particular company have been pitched to me by many people. He is likely to get my business at some point down the road, because he did  NOT attempt to SELL ME. Isn’t that funny how that works?

So let’s break it down:

1)      Establish a connection with your new relationship. Take a sincere interest in them, by asking questions. Allow time so that your new friend feels truly important. There is nothing worse than being on the phone and feeling rushed when you are talking about something that’s important to you personally. If you ask an important question, open up the space to receive their important answer! LISTEN – BE ENGAGED – Take an interest by finding something to relate to in what they tell you. Look for and find common ground. Sometimes when I talk to people about something important to me, and they have asked the question…you can tell on the other end if they truly care or not by their response. So HOW YOU LISTEN, AND HOW YOU RESPOND has everything to do with how this initial crucial stage in your relationship process will go. Being a good listener is one of the greatest tools you can carry with you in life. If someone feels really listened to, they will be yours for life.

2)      Share YOU with your relationship. It’s really important that you take plenty of time to expose WHO YOU ARE with your new relationship, or potential business partner. Sometimes people are so busy trying to get their product offer out on the table that it drowns everything else out. “Salesman” ends up becoming the message flashing through the phone, instead of what you may not be meaning to say at all. It does not necessarily have to be personal. What I mean by who you are is this: Share something with them that illustrates what is important to you. What are your core values? Share what your mission is as a business, and what you are looking to accomplish. Perhaps tell them something about your marketing strategy, and what makes you different. If you get a glimpse of the heart of a person, aren’t you more likely to continue building that relationship than if that person just tries to cram something down your throat?  Boo Yah!! Oh Yes!! When you share your spirit with anyone, you make a permanent impression, like a handprint in cement. It’s there forever. This can unfortunately work in reverse. Enough said.

3) Ask Good Questions

Asking Questions is the #1 Communication Tool we all have as people that can strengthen and deepen all of our relationships. Some good questions would be:

What do you do?

What do you like best about what you do?

What Inspires You?

Who is your hero and why?

What’s your favorite pastime?

What was your greatest accomplishment?

You get the idea!! 

Asking questions will cause your conversation to go in all sorts of wonderful directions. If it goes quiet…ask another question! You will quickly get a sense if this person is comfortable talking about themselves or not. Most people love to talk about their favorite subject: “My Life” …but some are private. That’s cool. Just respect it and stick to the simple boundaries like work and family. Stay away from politics and religion always. Not a good area unless they bring it up.

4) Posture

This is something I learned many years ago from some of the best in the field of Network Marketing Prospecting Education, and Mindset, Jeffrey Combs & Lisa Kitter. If you want to pick up some awesome mindset training, I highly recommend both of them!!

Posture is one of the most critical aspects of your business and of building relationships bar none. You must hold an attitude that what you have is:  THE Most Awesome,  THE Goose That Laid the Golden Egg, And You MIGHT Let Them In On It If They Are Lucky!!!!

It may sound a little corny to say…but I dare you to look in your mirror and say “I am 10 feet tall and bulletproof!!” 3 times before you get on the phone, and see if you don’t feel a major shift in your energy.  Or watch the video on 40 leader speeches in 2 mins! ..Anything to inspire you!

It’s all about BELIEF. Belief in your company, belief in your product, belief in our industry, belief in the Internet, and above all else: BELIEF IN YOU,Inc. _________________Insert Your Name!

So it all comes down to a specific relationship process, that when followed with care can bring you great rewards. In Part 2 I will talk about exposures, and how you can take great pressure off yourself in presenting your product or opportunity, and bring big big results!
